I have a couple lots of land that I am interesting in turning into a small farming for profit. I would like to prove that you don't need sections of land to be a farmer, and that by using careful techniques one can produce both food and small herb crops. Thank you Ana

Hi, I read your book, Flowers for Sale, and got very excited about the cut flower Biz. I live in a small coastal town with a few business', lots of B&B's, Motels and restaurants. Can you tell me a little about selling fresh bouquets to them? I was thinking on a weekly basis. How much should one charge, or even if this is a good idea. I have been gardening for many years, and have worked at several nurseries. I'm pretty sure that I can grow flowers year around. Thanks

Hello out there to all of you. Great site I am looking for gensing seed to give to a farmer friend. He has a natural wood lot of about 10 acres and we would like to try and grow gensing in a natural setting. I know it grows in the area but am reluctant to take it from the wild. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

I am very pleased to have found your site. My partner and I are hoping to establish a joint venture with a Native American Reservation in the North Central part of the U.S.A. She is a tribal member of the reservation and we are looking to establish 5 acres of organic herbs to be marketed and a percent of the profits go back into the youth education program on the reservation. We will be purchasing your books and would very much like to stay in contact with your organization during the process. Thank you for providing such useful services to those of us who are interested in sustainable agriculture and business. Your new friends in the business... Jackie and Janice (J&J Growers)

Starting my second year selling fresh herbs to small local grocery stores and restraunts. Having a greenhouse really helped get a jump on the season. I made my first delivery just last week. Last year I didn't get started selling until the second week in July. I even have my own web site now. Feel free to check it out at: http://luv2grow.nav.to

You have a great website.I'm a wild Himalan ginseng dealer, which is also called the pseudo-panax ginseng.I've been exporting this ginseng to contries like Japan,Taiwan and Islael for about 11 years. This ginseng has been found to contain higher organic content than any other kind of ginseng by the Japanese researchers and thus possesses higher potential in giving it's effects.I'd like to introduce this wild Himalayan Ginseng also in the U.S.,I'd be very grateful to you if you could suggest me how and from where can I begin to do this.Thank you.

Dear Sirs, WE would like find out the chance to supply to your market of herbal extracts. These are highly concentrated herbs in an alcohol base. We can supply herbs and essential oils too. All herbs are grew on the Crimea. Located in South Ukraine, on peninsula, Crimea enjoys an almost unique climate. Weather patterns are characterized by the contrasting influences of the Black sea and south steppes of Crimea. Very dry and clean atmosphere because of Crimean mountings. This climate seems to enhance the qualities of many herbs grown here. These herbs have more flavor and aroma- and greater potency. The full potential of herbs , which are full of vitality and free from chemical residues, is developed in Crimea by using organic methods of production. All Crimean herbs, essential oils and extracts are traditionally used in our country. We hope our prices are reasonable and competitive. We would like to stress there is a trend to increase of herbs medicine uses all over the world, and this business direction seems to be profitable and prospective for us. Best regards

I have just been thinking of having a cut flower garden in my large backyard to sell flowers roadside at my new home. As a "Stay-at-home mom", the summers are long enough and I enjoy gardening and just love cut flowers. A nearby gentleman sells stalks of Gladiola, bunches of zinnias or sunflowers for $8 a 6" bunch. Can do you know how much to sell for a particular species of flower (Gladiolas are quite expensive at florists, his go for about $3 per flower.) It requires not only a lot of work, but I am sure you don't want to overcharge, or undercharge for that matter. Does which zone you live in and if you can grow and sell a harder-to-grow variety and realisticaly expect to sell a bunch for more than the usual boquet? For example sweat peas. They require much more attention and are quite lovely without taking a lot of room in a backyard plot. I'ld me curious to receive a response to my questions, if you can. Thanks a lot. Thanks for answering my E-Mail. It is so nice to "talk" with other people who are interested in the same things I am. The name of my herb farm is "Savory Acres" and I am located in mid-Michigan. Last year was my first year selling my herbs for profit and it would have been so terrific to have help and advice. I figured out everything from prices and packaging all on my own. My biggest problem (besides weeds) was having enough on a weekly basis to supply my customers. This year I have a greenhouse so I am hoping to get started earlier and grow more. Please include me on your newsletter. Great site! Thanks!

My husband and I recently bought a small piece of land in SW VA. We are both experienced horticultural growers (perennial and woody plants nurseries). We hope to use our land to grow organic herbs to sell primarily for medicianal purposes. We have much to learn in this area. Do you no of other newsletters of eastern herb growers organizations that we could get involved with? We are very interested in networking, but have nowhere to start from yet. Thanks for your help! By the way, we love you book on the medicianl herb business. It has been most helpful! Dana Beegle

This is a wonderful site, very informative and educational. I love the links! We're in the process of beginning EssenHeal Sanctuary near Colorado City, CO, to cultivate and preserve native medicinal plants which will also be an "earthwise" educational facility in the future. Proceeds from our line of herbal and botanical products are funding the Sanctuary and we look to your pages often for guidance. Thank you and Namaste!

My husband and I have had a greenhouse for 3 years now. Growing bedding plants, perrenials, and dried flowers. This year we have started growing fresh cut herbs for restuarnts, and wholesalers and incorporated them with our veg. stand. We have brought the herbs in for the winter and we were wondering where to get information on natural controls for pest and diseases in a greenhouse enviroment and growing conditions. Thanks
